What is B.Tech?
BTech is a four year course that provides an undergraduate degree in the field chosen by the candidate after they have completed the stipulated duration and qualified all the criterions.
It focusses on preparing the students to work in the corporate industry in a manner where they can apply their knowledge and creativity for the betterment of the society.
There are a few colleges that offer Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree, which is another name for the BTech in engineering degree, as the syllabus and opportunities of both the courses is similar.
In the first year, students are taught about the fundamentals to equip them with the basics of all domains in the field of engineering. The syllabus and subjects are the same across all fields and colleges for the entry level students.
The next three years train the students in their specific domain. A CS pupil is taught programming, development, and other computer science subjects.
On the other hand, a mechanical student learns about designing and building automobiles and machines while an electronics student is taught about circuits.
The eligibility criteria
Like all other streams, to gain admission into a BTech in engineering programme, a student is expected to have the minimum aggregate marks in 10+2 level from any of the affiliated boards.
Since the competition to get into the top colleges is extreme, students need to clear and secure good ranks in the competitive examinations to gain admission into the top level colleges.
Popular entrance examinations are JEE Advanced, JEE Mains, BITSAT and CET that test a candidate’s potential in the core science subjects of physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
Since engineers require problem solving abilities and logical reasoning power, some exams have a set of aptitude questions to test the pupil’s rational ideologies.
Other important components of the programme
Since it is important to enhance one’s skill set and practical abilities, regular workshops and training sessions are held by industry leaders to groom the students and make them understand the internal working of the corporate world.
Alongside, industrial visits to MNCs and a 6 month summer internship is mandatory for all students to bag the top placement offers.
